I believe everyone can learn how to read music, at any age, and this skill is integrated into lessons. While emphasis is placed on learning classical repertoire, I am happy to teach pop songs and show tunes if requested. I hold studio recitals, because I feel live performance is an essential part of the learning experience. As an active professional performing musician, I am able to coach my students through the surprise of stage fright. Attending concerts given by professionals is also a wonderful way to learn, and I encourage my students and their families to do this as well. While I do utilize method books, and have in fact created my own, I remain flexible in guiding each student on his/her own musical path, whatever that may be.
